FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (45) September 7, 2008 American Music Legend Charlie Daniels Joins OFFE Team
Grammy Award winner Charlie Daniels, 72, is probably best known for his fiddle-drive hard-edge country and southern rock music. Over his career Daniels has worked with the best of the best in the music industry. In January of this year Daniels was inducted into the Opry Hall of Fame. Charlie Daniels has never shied away from politics. "The South's Gonna Do It" had a mild message of Southern cultural identity within the Southern rock movement. Daniels was an early supporter of Jimmy Carter's presidential bid and performed at his January 1977 inauguration. Charlie Daniels has always been a valued supporter of our men and women in uniform. Now, Charlie Daniels has added his voice to Operation Firing For Effect and the nationwide grassroots movement for full mandatory funding of the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system. In a recent telephone interview Daniels told OFFE National Chairman Gene Simes that he would gladly join the OFFE Team and help promote the full funding concept. He also agreed to record a public service announcement supporting the cause. To hear that interview, click on this link; http://www.stardustent.com/offespcwilliecharlie090508.mp3
Charlie Daniels is the latest celebrity to join the Operation Firing For
Effect Team. American Icon and country music legend Willie Nelson (U.S.
Air Force veteran) accepted the position of OFFE national celebrity
spokesperson over a year ago. Since that time, Nelson has recorded
several public service announcements for OFFE which were recently
debuted in Chicago during the first annual Veteran's Awareness Day on
the 29th of August. The video versions of the Willie Nelson
public service announcements are scheduled for release later this month.
